President Sisi, Ramaphosa agree on necessity to reduce violence in Gaza

Cairo – 18 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi discussed with South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa current regional situation and the continuing escalations in the Gaza Strip.

During a phone call on Wednesday the two presidents agreed on the danger and threat the current situation represents to regional stability, in a way that requires reducing tension and eliminating violence.

Both leaders agreed on the necessity to provide immediate protection for civilians, and reject the displacement, stressing the necessity of providing safe and urgent access to relief aid to the people of Gaza.

 Sisi and Ramaphosa underscored the urgent need to provide immediate and safe access for humanitarian assistance and relief to the people in the Gaza Strip, given the deteriorating humanitarian conditions, which are now on the verge of a catastrophe. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s relentless efforts in this regard.

President Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to mobilize the international community toward consensus on pushing forward the peace track, based on the two-state solution and in accordance with the relevant terms of reference of international legitimacy.
