Germany supports Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate tension in Gaza: Chancellor

CAIRO - 18 October 2023: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said from Cairo on Wednesday that Berlin supports Egypt's efforts to de-escalate the situation in Gaza.

“Together with Egypt, we want to work to alleviate the terrible consequences of the war," said Scholz.

He also said they discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza. 

In the same press conference, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi explained that any Israeli attempt to displace Palestinians in Sinai would mean that Palestinians in the West Bank will also be displaced in Jordan.
 

That would lead both countries being used as platforms to launch attacks on Israel and this would effectively end peace.
