CAIRO - 15 October 2023: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is looking into what some of its Arabic service journalists write on social media on the Gaza crisis.

The media giant decided the six journalists will not undertake editorial duties for a week until the investigation is concluded.

According to The Telegraph, the posts of the journalists were “biased against Israel” and “justify” Hamas’ killing of Israeli civilians.

The journalists are Mahmoud Shalib, editor-in-chief of the Egypt Time program, Sally Nabil, BBC Arabic and English correspondent in the Middle East, Salma Khattab, journalist, and Amr Fekry from the sports department.

From Lebanon, the list includes Sanaa el-Khory and Nada Abdel Samad.

Meanwhile, Aya Hossam, a freelance journalist based in Cairo, will not be able to work for the BBC again, the corporation decided.

A BBC spokesperson said: "We are currently investigating this matter. We take accusations of breaches of our editorial and social media guidelines very seriously, and if breaches are found, we will take action, including disciplinary action."
