CAIRO – 10 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received on Tuesday a phone call from the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to discuss the latest developments pertinent to the military escalation between the Palestinians and Israelis.

According to presidency spokesperson, Ahmed Fahmy, the two leaders reviewed the ongoing intensive contacts with various concerned parties to urge de-escalation and achieve calm, in order to stop the bloodshed and to protect civilians who are subjected to great humanitarian suffering as a result of continuing military operations.

They confirmed the need to push strongly towards achieving just peace in the region based on the two-state solution in accordance with the relevant references of international legitimacy.

In another Tuesday statements, President Abdel Fatah al Sisi stressed that Egypt is committed to Arab issues, and mainly the Palestinian Cause.

He added that “Egypt’s National Security is his top responsibility and it cannot be compromised or forfeited under any circumstance.”

He affirmed that Egypt will not allow the termination of the Palestinian Cause at the expense of other parties.

He also noted that Egypt has intensified its efforts to halt the military confrontations, and as a result, save Palestinian lives.

“The current escalation is so dangerous and has consequences that can jeopardize regional security and stability” President Sisi said.

Adding: “We’re communicating with all international powers and influential regional parties to accomplish an immediate ceasefire and pacification that would preserve the lives of civilians on both sides.”
