CAIRO – 8 October 2023: President of the Egyptian Democratic Social Party Farid Zahran submitted Sunday his candidacy documents to the National Election Authority (NEA) to run in the 2024 Presidential Election to be the second since submissions opened on October 5 after incumbent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

The primary approval or rejection of potential candidates will be announced by the NEA on October 16 and 17, while the final list will be out on November 9, taking into consideration that the submission will close on October 14.

The documents required are a copy of the national ID; birth certificate; education certificate; criminal record; military service status certificate for males; financial statement; medical test results; and at least 20 nominations from members of the House of Representatives or 25,000 nominations from citizens issued through the Registry.

Zahran told Extra News Wednesday that his programme "would center on political and economic reform aimed at enhancing the living conditions of people in a short period of time."

President of Al Wafd Party Abdel Sanad Yamama underwent Tuesday medical tests at Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital lying in Giza's 6th of October City fulfilling the requirements to run in 2024 Presidential Election.

Yamama had fulfilled another major requirement which is garnering nominations from 20 members of the House of Representatives, which is the minimum needed to participate in the race.

The conditions also provide another alternative, which is collecting at least 25,000 nominations from citizens. Yet, they must be from at least 15 governorates, with each contributing at least 1,000 nominations.

The voting will take place abroad on December 1-3, and domestically on December 10-12, while the result will be announced on December 18.
