University hospitals in Egypt grow to 125 since 2014

CAIRO – 5 October 2023: The number of university hospitals in Egypt grew from 88 in 2014 to 125 in 2023 so that the number of regular beds and beds in intensive-care units became 36,932 and 4,950, respectively.

 

The former figures were 28,958 and 3,000. Further, the number of beds at incubators increased to be 856 up from 656. As for the number of patients benefiting from university hospitals, it rose from 16 million to 24.5 million.

 

Complicated and ordinary surgeries recorded 200,000 and 887,000 in 2023 compared to 60,000 and 460,000 in 2014. Also, the number of patients who underwent dialysis increased to 1.25 million up from 830,000.
