CAIRO – 14 September 2023: Official spokesman for the Liyan Commander-in-Chief, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari praised the Egyptian support for the Libyan state in its ordeal after his country was battered by a devastating storm.

 

He said in special comments to Youm7 T.V. that Egypt is “a supporter of the Arab nations,” noting that the Egyptian state has sent urgent supplies and aid to the Libyans.”

 

Egypt is the most country that is aware of the urgent and rapid requirements that the Libyan people need in terms of logistical support and medical assistance, Mismari said.

 

He praised President Sisi’s decision to send the “Mistral” aircraft carrier to be a field hospital that helps save critical lives, and provides them with the necessary treatment.

 

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the military, Wednesday to prepare a Mistral aircraft carrier to serve as a field hospital for the victims of Daniel storm that struck Libya.

 

Sisi directed the army to establish shelter camps in the western military zone for those affected by the tragedy.

 

President Sisi listened to a detailed explanation from one of the commanders of the Armed Forces about the immediate support and humanitarian relief aid offered to brothers in Libya.

 

The military commander said the Egyptian aid includes 50 ambulances and 50 mobile field hospital truck trailers and medical supplies.

 

The assistance shipment also includes 120 engineering equipment to contribute to remove debris following the floods that hit the country, he added.

 

The shipment has as well 100 containers with administrative needs at a load of 1,000 tons and dust tankers and equipment containers, he said.

 

The devastating story, Daniel, struck Libya and lead two dams in Derna city to collapse, killing so far more than 5,100 people while about 9,000 others are still missing. About 25 percent of the city was inundated.

 

Egypt announced a three-day mourning for the victims of the Libyan flood disaster and the victims of Moroccan earthquake that claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people.
