No reports of deaths, injuries among Egyptians in Morocco's earthquake

CAIRO – 10 September 2023: Egyptian Ambassador to Morocco Yasser Othman stated Sunday that no deaths or injuries among Egyptians had been reported so far, adding that a final assessment of the situation would take a few days.

Othman declared that communications are underway with authorities to follow up on the circumstances of the Egyptian community.

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Morocco on Friday incurring over 2,000 deaths. As the search is still ongoing, the toll is likely to rise. The damage is concentrated in mountainous areas near Marrakesh.
