Youth committee rapporteur of National Dialogue says state keen on empowering youth

CAIRO – 7 September 2023: Youth Committee Rapporteur of the National Dialogue Ahmed Fathi said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen on empowering Egyptian youth on the various levels, citing youth presentation in the parliament in 2021 that reached 21% compared to 8% in 2008.

During discussions of the Youth Committee of the National Dialogue Thursday to address political empowerment of youth, supporting students’ unions and activities the Committee's rapporteur said, some 124 youth parliamentarians, representing the age category between 25-36 represented youth in the parliament in 2021.

The National Political Dialogue's (NPD) technical-secretariat Mahmoud Fawzy said the State has always been keen on empowering youth and further involving them in the political process.

He further called on youth to bring forward their ideas and strongly articulate their vision, accentuating the importance of the National Dialogue; being an real tool for cooperation, with a view to addressing all issues and responsibilities.

The 6th session of the social axis of the National Dialogue kicked off at Cairo International Convention Center in Nasr City with wide participation of experts and different society figures.

The Committee of Culture and National Identity will discuss in two-sessions aspects related to the rubric: "Culture industries between reality and expectations: Cinema and TV drama".

The Youth Committee will discuss on two sessions political empowerment of youth, supporting unions and students activities.

The National Dialogue's Board of Trustees agreed to hold sessions regularly Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week, mainly dedicated to address the National Dialogue's three main tracks, namely the political economic and social axes.
