CAIRO – 10 August 2023: Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers MFO Elizabeth L. Dibble visited the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Thursday.

 

She expressed her appreciation for the Centre's activity and diversity and her keenness to enhance UN cooperation with it, the statement added.

 

Dibble also expressed her appreciation for Egypt's role in supporting peace and stability regionally and internationally, and her gratitude for the Egyptian authorities' continuous support to the multinational force, which contributed to its success in carrying out its tasks.

 

The meeting was attended by Director General's Representative (DGR) in Cairo Bradley C. Lynch.

 

For his part, Ambassador Ahmed Nihad Abdel Latif, the CCCPA Director, reviewed Egypt's pioneering role in the field of peacekeeping, noting that Egypt is the sixth largest country contributing troops to UN peacekeeping operations.

 

He highlighted the high number of Egyptian female peacekeepers. He also gave an overview of the activities of the Cairo International Center and its various programmes, especially in the field of peacekeeping training.

 

 The meeting also dealt with the Center's cooperation with the United Nations, the League of Arab States and the African Union.
