CAIRO – 9 August 2023: If you are planning a holiday to Alamein or Alexandria this weekend, beware of strong winds and high waves.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), wind speed will range from 30 to 50 km/hour in Alexandria, Alamein, Kafr El-Sheikh’s Balteem and Damietta on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while waves can rise to up to 2.5 meters.

Northern Egypt is experiencing a relief from heat this week, with temperatures declining to mid-30s Celsius during daytime in Cairo and the northern coast.

This week, weather will be hot and humid in Cairo, Lower Egypt and the north coast, extremely hot in South Sinai and southern Egypt and slightly hot in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.

Average apparent temperatures based on the EMA expectations until Tuesday:

- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 36

- Northern coasts – Highs: 33

- South Sinai – Highs: 41

- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 38

- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 43
