Egypt holds bilateral political consultations with Maldives, Sri Lanka

CAIRO – 25 July 2023: In an Asian tour carried out by Ambassador Ayman Kamel, assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian affairs, he held bilateral political consultations with Maldives on July 16 and Sri Lanka on July 19, according to a statement released Monday.

 

The talks with Maldives State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khalil were focused on bolstering economic cooperation, trade exchange, reciprocal experience transfer, and tourism between both states.

 

That is in addition to collaboration in the sectors of culture, healthcare, education, sports, and youth support as well as boosting partnerships with Al Azhar. Further, an MoU was signed between Egypt's Diplomatic Studies Institute and Maldives Foreign Service Institute.

 

On the sidelines, the ambassador met with Maldives foreign minister, and the ministers of Islamic affairs, health, and economic development.

 

As for the visit to Sri Lanka, Kamel met the minister of state for foreign affairs agreeing on the preparation of an action plan for the economic and cultural events to be held on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries.

 

The Egyptian diplomat also met the minister of religious and cultural affairs, and consultant to the president for national security. Further, he attended three workshops organized by the Egyptian embassy for Sri Lankan businessmen working in the sectors of tourism, aviation, and investment.
