Sisi: Egypt keen on luring major Italian investments to mining, transformational industries

CAIRO – 20 June 2023: Egypt’ President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted Egypt's appreciation for its historical ties with Italy and its keenness on upgrading current cooperation with Rome in the various fields.

He noted that Cairo was deeply interested in luring in major Italian companies to the Egyptian sectors of mining and transformational industries to increase the industrial added value in this sector.

The president's remarks were made during a meeting with a number of heads of Italian mining companies including Barton International and BSM Industriali, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Oil and Mineral Wealth Tarek El Molla, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Ahmed El Shazli, a galaxy of Egyptian officials as well as Italian Ambassador in Cairo Michel Quaroni.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said the meeting reviewed horizons of cooperation wit the Italian companies to maximize the benefits from Egypt's mineral wealth in light of the success of industrial cooperation between the two countries such as the the Quartz Industrial Complex at Ain Sokhna launched by President Sisi in May.

Meanwhile, officials of the Italian companies voiced hope for intensifying work and cooperation with Egypt, praising the close follow-up of President Sisi in pushing forward private investments and the State's keenness on introducing a huge leap in this field.

The Italian officials also affirmed their commitment to enhancing the fruitful cooperation with Egypt in the field of mining activities and expanding the private investments in this vital sector in Egypt which has a variety of unearthed wealth of minerals
