Egypt calls for rallying int'l efforts to find permanent solution to refugee crisis

CAIRO - 20 June 2023: Egypt has asserted the significance of rallying international efforts in order to find out permanent solutions to the refugee crisis through a comprehensive perspective that considers integration between the humanitarian and development dimensions.


Today, the world honors the refugees who have been forced to flee their homes and seek sanctuary in other countries, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that the day is a crucial opportunity to shed light on the suffering of the refugees and underline solidarity with their hosting communities.

Amid global circumstances marked by deteriorating crises and natural disasters, Egypt continues opening its doors to provide a sanctuary for those who have been forced to flee their homeland, the statement said.

Egypt stressed the necessity of securing resources meant to cater for the humanitarian needs of the refugees as well countries providing shelter to them.

Meanwhile, Egypt hailed the role of the international organizations concerned with the issues of immigration and asylum seeking, reiterating its commitment to maintaining cooperation and coordination with these organizations.

World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honor refugees around the globe.

The day falls each year on 20 June and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.
