CAIRO – 15 June 2023: The Municipal Authority of North Sinai Governorate announced Thursday that it would start disbursing compensations to owners of lands that had been used to expand Arish Port on the Mediterranean.

Those lands are located in Palmera, Al Sahafeyeen, Daheyet Al Zahraa, Sharq Al Obour, Al Obour, and the port area.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) announced in January that the development plan of Al-Arish Port in northeastern Egypt would be concluded in 2024.

Development work at the port includes establishing marine piers, breakwaters, trading years, and internal roads as well as raising the efficiency of the port’s buildings, walls, and gates, Head of the SCZone Walid Gamal El-Din said.

The port is being developed in cooperation with the Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), and national contracting companies, including Arab Contractors and El-Gharably.

Development of the port will qualify it to receive modern ships with huge payloads, Gamal El-Din said.
