Cairo and Baghdad relation develops daily: Iraq’s Foreign Minister

CAIRO – 13 June 2023: Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein said on Wednesday that the high-level official visit to Egypt comes within the framework of the continues talks and discussion between the Iraqi and Egyptian sides.

He explained that the discussions tackle a range of issues related to developing mutual relations and deepening cooperation between the two countries.

“Relations between Egypt and Iraq are very good and are developing day by day, as we signed 11 MoUs between the two governments during the visit. Also, some Egyptian companies will play an important role in building the infrastructure of the Iraqi economy, especially in the field of construction and housing," Hussein noted in televised statements to Al Qahera news channel.

He added that the formation of the Iraqi delegation confirms that these talks are important economically.

Hussein, said that there is joint cooperation in the security, military and cultural fields between the two countries.

He stressed: “We will develop economic relations and expect many Egyptian companies to work in the Iraqi arena in the coming period”

The Iraqi official also referred to the joint projects related to energy, especially electrical interconnection, between the two countries.

Hussein said that Iraq has become an open society, and the external influence is clear on Iraqi politics.

He added, "Regional tensions have become part of the tensions inside Iraq. And managing these tensions needs to be managed on global scale.”
