CAIRO – 1 December 2022:  The Egyptian government is discussing establishing a waste-to-energy plant in Abu Rawash city, Giza, announced the Egyptian Ministry of Environment in a statement on Thursday.

The project has been discussed by Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa and Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad at the headquarters of the Ministry of Military Production, the statement added.

"The plant aims at treating municipal solid waste (MSW) and converting it into electric energy, with a capacity of converting 1,200 tons of waste per day to 30 megawatts of electricity per hour," said Minister of Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa, noting that this project contributes to improving the environmental, health and living conditions of citizens.
