CAIRO – 2 October 2022: The Cabinet's media center dismissed reports circulating on social media websites purporting the establishment of 12,000 operation rooms at the regional center for organ transplant .

In a statement issued Sunday, the center said it contacted the Ministry of Health and Population over the matter which categorically denied such reports.

The regional center for organ transplant, that is set to be built inside the Medical City in Nasser City, will only include 12 operation rooms, 300 hospital beds, in addition to 52 intensive care beds and 56 medium care beds, along with 10 kidney dialysis machines, a fully equipped laboratory, 12 outpatient clinics, a rehabilitation center, as well as an emergency unit, according to the statement.

The center is being set in cooperation with specialized giant companies, with a view to setting up an overarching system incorporating an automated network regulating all organ donation procedures, in line with international standards, the statement said.
