CAIRO – 13 September 2022: Egypt’s Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid described the latest HRW report on the participation of environmental groups in COP27 as “misleading”.

In statements to AP he said that the report was misleading and that its publishing was “counterproductive.”

“It is unfortunate to find such allegations and inaccuracies in the latest HRW report on the participation of environmental groups in COP27. The report is based on the testimonies of unknown sources, and unidentified groups claiming potential impediments to their participation in the conference," said Ahmed Abu Zeid, the ministry's spokesman.

“It is deplorable and counterproductive to issue such a misleading report, at a time where all efforts should be consolidated to ensure the convening of a successful COP that guarantees the implementation of global climate commitments,” the spokesman added.

Egypt’s officials have been making all efforts to prepare Sharm el-Sheikh city to host the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) next November.
