CAIRO – 12 June 2022: Two Egyptian academic students, who were kidnapped in South Africa, were released on Friday, stated the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Saturday.

 

Two students Moamen Haitham Kamel Gaber and Fadi Saeed Al Hadi Mohamed Mahmoud were kidnapped at dawn on Saturday, May 14, 2022, the statement added, noting that they were released by intensive efforts made by the Egyptian Embassy in South Africa, in cooperation with the South African authorities and senior government officials, the ATIS Civil Aviation Academy in South Africa, the security authorities and the families of the Egyptian students.

 

The two students are in good health condition and the embassy assured their families about their safety, the statement continued.

 

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it kept the matter of the abduction unrevealed for the sake of the investigation until releasing the students.

 

It extended a deep appreciation to the South African authority for their tremendous efforts to release the students, asking the families of Egyptians who eye studying in South Africa to be vigilant when it comes to their children’s movements there.

 

The statement did not reveal the reason for their abduction.
