CAIRO – 9 June 2022: Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force Jehangir Khan appreciated Egypt's leading role in developing the Arab strategy for combating terrorism, which was collectively approved by the Arab Interior Ministers in March, 2022.

Addressing the first international conference on countering religious extremism organized by Dar Al Iftaa, Khan underlined the technical support provided to the Arab strategy on combating terrorism and shed light on Cairo's key role in directing the international attention to the need of taking preemptive steps to counter the hatred speech.

Khan also said that launching the conference by Salam Centre for Studies of Extremism, a research unit affiliated with Dar Al-Iftaa, comes at a critical timing as terrorism is still posing a threat to international peace and security. He also asserted that terrorism, armed conflicts and their risks at the regional and international levels would remain a serious challenge to all world countries.
