CAIRO - 21 March 2022: The Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, has briefed a group of Libyan presidential candidates in detail on the initiative of the UN-facilitated joint committee between the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) to agree on a constitutional basis to hold elections, The Libya Observer reported.

"I had an impressive virtual exchange with a group of Libyan presidential candidates”, Williams tweeted.

The participants stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to put the electoral process back on track, calling for more interaction with constituencies concerned, including candidates and tabled an initiative in the event that the talks between the two chambers don't succeed.
