CAIRO - 1 March 2022:  The Health Ministry has reported a decrease in the occupancy rates of the intensive care units (ICU) and the intermediate care units (IMCU) at the hospitals nationwide.

Acting Health Minister and Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held the weekly meeting on Tuesday with his assistants and top officials from the Health Ministry within the framework of following up the work plan of the ministry against coronavirus and its keenness on the public health of the citizens.

Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the minister stood on the reports on the occupancy rates of the hospitals across the various governorates.

He said that the percent of COVID 19 patients in the isolation hospitals decreased by 40.4% during the period from February 11 to 25 in comparison to the period from January 25 until February 10, adding that the number of house isolation cases has also curved downwards.

The spokesman attributed the decrease to the continuous follow-up of medical teams to the reported cases as well as the availability of the treatment protocol of the virus along with the strategic stock of medicine and other medical supplies.

He also noted that the minster has reviewed the special reports pertaining to vaccination rates among citizens in the various governorates in addition to providing all types of vaccines in the mobile and permanent health centers.
