The meeting comes within the framework of a strategic plan until 2050, in coordination among all concerned authorities in the country and in partnership with international expertise with the aim of providing clean water, he added.
“This is in order to keep pace with the rates of development and the growing urban expansion, particularly in the coastal areas and the governorates overlooking the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea as well as the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba,” he said.
The President stressed the importance of auditing studies related to water desalination projects that complement the state’s approach towards the use and management of available water resources in order to achieve the maximum possible use. This includes treatment and desalination plants, in addition to the expansion of modern irrigation systems, advanced agricultural techniques and rational water management.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel-Ati, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Asem El-Gazzar, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed El-Quseir, the President’s Adviser for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ehab El-Far, Director of the National Center for Planning State Land Uses Nasser Khalifa and CEO of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt Ayman Soliman.
