CAIRO – 11 August 2021: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday expressed “sincere” condolences with the Algerian state and people over the death of Algerians in wildfires across many provinces.

Algeria is witnessing three days of national mourning as wildfires that broke through forested areas across northern Algeria have caused the death of at least 65 people in the country, according to state TV on Wednesday.

Algerian army has been deployed to combat the fires and so far, 28 soldiers have died and 12 others have been seriously injured, according to Reuters.

“The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, its brotherly people and the families of the victims of the fires that broke out in a number of Algerian provinces and caused the death and injury of many citizens,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.

“Egypt stresses its full solidarity with the sisterly Algeria in this tragic incident, expressing sincere wishes that Allah (God) grants the injured a speedy recovery,” the ministry added.
