CAIRO – 30 May 2021: The first and second phases of the high-speed electric train will be inagurated during the anniversary of October war victory, while the experimental operation will begin in August.

The Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday that five trains will be imported in September and five more in October.

The lengths of the first and second phases are 460 kilometers and 200 kilometers, respectively.

The first one – to be accomplished within two years - starts from Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea and ends at Alamin on the Mediterranean passing through the New Administrative Capital, 6th of October City, and Alexandria.

The second phase will be between Alamin and Marsa Matrouh, capital of Matrouh governorate, for the line to encompass 20 stations.

The total length of railroads to be extended within the project is 1,000 kilometers and the total cost is LE360 billion. The train having a speed of 250 kilometer per hour is expected to have two other phases. One is from Alexandria in the north to Aswan in the south, and the other is from Ain Sokhna on the Gulf of Suez to Hurghada on the Red Sea and then to Luxor.
