CAIRO – 24 May 2021: The Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad launches “Speak Arabic” online application to promotes Arabic language and Egyptian culture among the second and third generations of the Egyptians abroad.

The application reinforces the “Speak Arabic” initiative that was launched in October 2020, with the aim of linking Egyptians abroad to their motherland.

The initiative is concerned with spreading Egyptian customs and traditions, and preserving the Egyptian identity among expats. It also targets non-Egyptian Arabic speakers who want to learn the language.

The first phase of the application targets children aged between three to six years old; the second phase targets children aged between six to nine years old, and the third phase targets children aged between nine to 12 years old.

“The launch of the online application represents a major step towards a more comprehensive implementation of the initiative, to provide an opportunity for our Egyptian generations emerging abroad to learn the Arabic language to read and write, replying on the latest interactive learning methods, and to provide an integrated experience of our Egyptian culture, customs and traditions,” Immigration Minister Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed said.

The minister added that the preparation and implementation of the application provides content that uses the latest means and concepts of educational technology in developing the application, such as using the concept of gamification, which guarantees an interactive and entertaining educational experience for children through the presence of games and competitions with the opportunity to collect points and obtain prizes.

The application also relies mainly on the use of artificial intelligence, which guarantees an individual learning experience for each child by determining the level, strengths and weaknesses of each child separately, and then working to strengthen them by restoring the content and providing more training.
