Martyrs Day
Each year, Egypt and the Armed Forces observe Veteran Warrior and Martyr's Day on March 9th, commemorating the sacrifice of former army chief of staff, Lieutenant General Abdel-Moneim Riad, who gave his life in defense of the homeland on the same day in 1969, Egypt’s news agency MENA reported.
Egyptian people places full confidence in the ability of the Armed Forces and police personnel to support the pillars of construction, stability, and developments across the country, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said on Friday.
“President El-Sisi also communicated that the memory of the martyrs must always be recalled in gratitude for the sacrifices they made, without which no achievements would have been realized in Egypt,” Rady said.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has teared up after meeting the family members of dozens of military and police officers who were slain during confrontations with terrorists, as well as the families of doctors who lost their lives after contracting Covid-19.
