Minister of Transport kamel al-Wazir stated Tuesday in a phone-in that 11 senior officials at the National Railways Authority had been referred to the Military Prosecution.
The Egyptian Railways Authority is implementing major projects to modernize signaling systems along railway lines from "Alexandria to Luxor", at a cost of L.E. 12 billion.
The official added that the introduction of the signaling system will begin next week given that the train will start operation in October.
The train was supposed to be delivered by the Spanish company in March, but a delay is likely to occur.
The Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA) indicated in a statement Tuesday that the signaling systems all over Egypt are being modernized.
