Domestic Debt
Foreigners have invested around $20.3 billion in Egyptian debt instruments since the Egyptian pound flotation in November 2016 and until February this year.
Egypt’s foreign debt reached $71.8 billion at the end of February, Minister of Planning Hala El Said announced Thursday.
Egypt’s domestic public debt reached LE 3.07 trillion ($169 billion) in the first three quarters of the current fiscal year, (CBE) said Thursday.
Egypt’s public debt has risen since the government expands in issuing bonds and treasury bills in addition to getting loans to fund a large part of the budget.
