Egyptian Prosecution
CAIRO – 7 August 2023: The Egyptian prosecution released on Monday 33 pretrial detainees, including renowned businessman Omar El-Sheneity, Tarek El-Awady, a member of the Presidential Pardon Committee, said in a Facebook post.
The detainees, released as per a decision by the Public Prosecution, include renowned lawyer Haitham Mohamedin, said Awadi on Facebook.
Also, the Egyptian Supreme State Security Prosecution released nine pretrial detainees, including Ashraf Mahmoud, Adel Ahmed, and Mohamed El-Sayed in the case no. 880.
A committee from the Supreme Council of Antiquities said all the seized antiquities date back to the Egyptian civilizations and belong to different ages, including the Prehistoric, Pharaonic, Greek, Roman and Islamic ages, according to the prosecution’s statement.
The Helwan prosecution also ordered conducting a drug test for the two drivers, who fled to Alexandria after the incident, according to an official statement
The Egyptian Public Prosecution on Tuesday appealed on a court decision to release four defendants in the gang rape case known as “Fairmont Case.”
They face accusations of publishing pictures and videos that are indecent and announcing a call that includes a temptation to prostitution. Also, one of the two defendants, according to investigations, used to practice prostitution.
