Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting Wednesday to review a proposal submitted by a Chinese company to utilize the water left over from seawater desalination projects to extract minerals.
The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) prequalified 17 consortia to be invited to the tendering process of the development of a number of seawater desalination plants powered by renewable energy in different locations across Egypt.
He added that the aim of the project is to cover citizens’ needs of drinking water.
South Sinai contemplates introducing water treatment plants operating in the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system.
The Cypriot president stated that the meeting is held in light of regional developments.
