Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that work has been resumed on the initiative of the President of the Republic for early detection of diseases (anemia, obesity and dwarfism) among primary school students.
The screening is carried out by measuring the weight, height, and hemoglobin level in blood.
The initiative to early detect anemia, obesity and dwarfism has been launched among primary school pupils, coinciding with the kickoff of the new school year 2021/2022.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi told his ministers on Sunday that all the steps and procedures leading to giving schoolchildren meals should be monitored closely.
The screening took place in 29,444 primary schools by 1,800 medical teams.
Only 20 percent are imported.
Students who need treatment are referred to one of the 225 clinics affiliated with the Medical Insurance Authority.
