Customs Duties
Egypt’s initiative allowing its expats to import cars free of taxes and customs duties will expire on Sunday 14 May, the Ministry of Finance announced in a statement.
The Cabinet approved on Wednesday a draft decision to exempt semi-wrought gold carried by Egyptians coming from abroad from custom duties and other applicable fees, except Value Added Tax (VAT), for six months.
The exemption came within the framework of the exception granted by the East African Union to the states of Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda, which are members of the union, and the COMESA grouping to grant the rest of the COMESA member states a comprehensive customs exemption.
Further information about the identity of the workers has not yet been revealed.
