Chairman of Middle Egypt Company for Electricity Distribution told Egypt Today that the total number of electricity theft complaints filed by May is 40,553.
The ministry condemned the move, saying it is a flagrant violation of the international law and legitimacy resolutions.
Thirty-five complaints had been raised by citizens even before the cut took place.
