The Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan hailed Egypt for becoming the second exporter of cirtus worldwide.
Egyptian agriculture exports from January to 24 August this year have amounted to around 4,491,099 tons, Minister of Agriculture El Sayed El-Qusseir has said on August 26, 2022.
A report by Ahmed El-Attar, head of the ministry’s Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine, has affirmed that the most prominent Egyptian agricultural exports this year are citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, grapes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, strawberry, beans, guavas, mangoes, garlic, and watermelons.
About 14,000 pesticide appliers had been trained, a matter which allows exporting the Egyptian products without problems, Qersh mentioned.
The statement said a delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries was sent to Egypt in December to test the quality of Egyptian citrus crops.
Egypt is the world's top exporter of oranges for two years in a row.
“The delegation will visit a number of citrus farms and filling and sorting stations, and will be introduced to the system used in agricultural exports for all world markets,” Attar said.
On the other hand, Brazil to export sheep and goats to Egypt.
The country also exported around 800,000 tons of potatoes since the beginning of 2018.
