All four of Egypt’s telecom operators have now received 5G licenses from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), announced Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, on Monday.
The partnership comes on the heels of Telecom Egypt securing a 15-year license in January to operate 5G services, underscoring its commitment to advancing Egypt's digital transformation agenda
The licenses could be available as early as December, according to the sources, with licensing fees placed at least $500 million
US electronics giant Intel said Tuesday it was withdrawing from the 5G smartphone modem business.
Acting Executive President of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Mustafa Abdel Wahed on Sunday predicted that the 5G frequencies would be assigned to telecom operators in Egypt by the beginning of 2020.
