Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat held a meeting with the work team responsible for the Egyptian-Saudi electrical interconnection project with a capacity of 3,000 MW.
The source explained that the interconnection project with Sudan is one of the most important projects implemented by the Ministry of Electricity.
The developing works are conducted through the use of the latest devices and modern technologies that enable the service to reach Sudan with the highest quality.
Egypt is set to become a pivotal center for energy exchange with an ambitious plan to produce 42 percent of its energy from renewable resources, spokesperson of the Ministry of Electricity, Ayman Hamza, has said.
The project will be fully delivered by 2020, with the first phase to be finished in 2019 at a capacity of 1,200 MW.
