Lasheen Ibrahim
Head of Egypt’s National Election Authority (NEA) Lasheen Ibrahim has died after suffering for more than 20 days from coronavirus.
The National Election Authority, which is in charge of supervising the electoral process in the northeastern African country, has excluded expats in Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia from voting in the August Senate elections, due to unstable conditions of these states.
The Egyptian expatriates can vote in the planned referendum on constitutional amendments from Friday, April 19, to Sunday, April 21.
Egypt Today spoke with Lasheen Ibrahim, head of the NEA around the strategy of the elections authority in case the amendments are approved.
The Foreign Ministry said it is eager to cooperate with the National Electoral Commission to facilitate the voting of Egyptian expatriates.
