Egyptians are watching for updates as the government plans to issue a final report regarding a sudden surge in gastroenteritis cases reported in hospitals in Upper Egypt’s Aswan within 48 hours.
This came on Thursday on the sidelines of the Global Congress on Population, Health and Development, which started proceedings on September 5 and will last until September 8 under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Abdel Ghaffar's remarks came during a surprise visit to the National Heart Institute on Monday to follow up on its work and ensure quality of services offered to patients, said Spokesman for the Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.

The report also covered the evaluation of hospital nutrition services, contracts for periodic construction maintenance of the health facilities and their medical and non-medical equipment, security and cleaning services, along with a compulsory training project for all leaders and employees of the authority, its branches and health facilities.
The initiative aims at detecting hearing impairment among newborns, Abdel Ghaffar added in statements to "Good Morning Egypt" program aired on Channel one TV.
This is part of a state strategy to achieve the sustainable development goals and Egypt's 2030 vision, Abdel Ghaffar noted.
He reiterated the ministry's keenness on offering best medical care in the shortest time possible.
The minister, meanwhile, followed up the rates of messages sent for those who have received two doses of vaccines and have passed a six-month period.
Zayed was hospitalized three days ago due to a heart attack after officials at her office were arrested for corruption.
The minister said that cooperation between Egypt and African countries in the health field has been prospering since Egypt's presidency of the African Union in 2019.
38 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 17,884.
Zayed will also meet with officials of Robert Koch Institute to exchange expertise in the field of public health and facing coronavirus pandemic, Megahed said.
The 10-day campaign falls within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
She reiterated on Sunday that a protocol has been developed for the treatment of the coronavirus cases with the best treatment services to overcome the pandemic.
Zayed will sign a memorandum of understanding between Egypt's National Cancer Institute and France's Gustave Roussy Institute of Oncology.
Health Minister Hala Zayed said Egypt has contracted to obtain the Bamlanivimab and etesevimab medicines, whose combination proved effective in treating mild and moderate coronavirus cases.
As many as 656 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 230,368, the spokesman added.
Zayed’s remarks were part of a speech delivered by head of the health ministry's Central Department of Laboratories Nancy el Gendy on behalf of the minister during the Arab League’s celebration of World Population Day.
