In a statement Monday, the council said the US led the importing countries from Egypt in terms of ready-made garments, as its imports rose to $820 million in the first seven months in 2022 against $595 million in the same period 2021.
The clothes exports increased by 37% in the Arab countries during the first quarter of 2022 to record $67 million, she said.
Egyptian ready-made garments exports to Europe also increased 31 percent to hit $37 million in the above-mentioned period, compared to $28 million in the same period last year, Louis said.
Head of the Export Council for Ready-made Garments Marie Louis, said in a statement Wednesday the sector's exports rose by 55 percent in June to reach $199 million, compared to $128 million during the same month last year.
The council seeks to get major factories to help small and medium-sized enterprises through providing them with technical support with the aim of increasing Egyptian exports.
The Readymade Garment Export Council emphasized its interest to increase access to the European market in cooperation with all export councils in Egypt.
The United States of America allocated 48 percent of Egypt’s readymade garments exports in Q1, recording $185 million, compared to $160 million in 2017.
Egypt’s trade deficit dropped 15.4 percent in October 2017 to reach $3.22 billion, compared to $3.79 billion in the same month last year.
