Alaa Abd El Fattah
Alaa Abd El-Fattah said Tuesday that he has broken his hunger strike, asking his mother [in a short letter published by his sister Sanaa] to bring a cake to the prison during her next visit scheduled for Thursday because he wants to celebrate his birthday.
The Egyptian mission to the United Nations in Geneva said Tuesday that it rejects a statement by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, that calls for the release of Alaa Abd el-Fattah,” an Egyptian citizen who has been tried, convicted and is currently serving his sentence.”
Three days ago, the German Foreign Ministry released a statement, calling the Egyptian government to ensure “to ensure that Mr El-Baqer receives a fair trial and is released, along with his co-defendants Alaa Abdel Fattah and Mohamed Ibrahim.”
