CAIRO - 15 August 2017: The number of Chinese tourists coming to Egypt has increased by 94% during the year 2017, compared to the same period last year, according to Xinhua News Agency.

According to statistics issued by the Egyptian Embassy in Beijing, during the first five months of the ongoing year, 2017, Chinese tourists visiting Egypt reached 150 thousand. .

Up until last May,18 thousand Chinese tourist visited Egypt which makes China the fourth largest source for tourists in Egypt, said the news agency.

The increase in the number of flights and the diversity of means of transportation between China and the Arab world have also contributed to the surge in the number of Chinese tourists heading to visit Arab destinations. Flights from Guangzhou in southern China to Cairo increased since July 2016 to seven flights per week.

The news agency also confirmed that Egypt has facilitated visa procedures for the Chinese, and is now considering issuing e-tourism visas for Chinese tourists.
