CAIRO-18 March 2021: Al Ahly striker Mohamed Sherif believes that his team achieved a precious win against AS Vita Club in DR Congo.
Sherif believes that the victory will have a great impact on the Red Devils in their journey to defend their CAF Champions League title.
“It is an important victory in difficult circumstances but we still have a long road to walk towards defending our CAF Champions League title.” Sherif told Al Ahly official website.
Sherif started the game in Kinshasa alongside Marwan Mohsen in the frontline and he managed to score for Al Ahly after six minutes to give them an early lead.
Sherif's goal opened the door for Al Ahly to secure a much-needed three points away from home.
Sherif added "Sharing the frontline with Marwan Mohsen gave me the freedom to move in the spaces of Vita Club’s defense. We also exchanged our roles during the game which helped us find cracks in their defense and score.”
Al Ahly are second in the group with 7 points, three points behind the leaders Simba.
The defending champions have a chance to reach the next round as group leaders as they will face Al Merrikh in Sudan and Simba in Cairo.
