CAIRO-13 March 2021: Al Ahly announced on Friday that the team’s Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul will not be fit for the team’s upcoming match in the CAF Champions League group stage against AS Vita Club.
“Our head of medical staff, Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, stated that Maaloul felt pain in his hamstring during the final phase of the rehabilitation program, adding that the player underwent a scan and they are waiting for the MRI results.” Al Ahly official website stated.
The Red Devils defender has been sidelined since the game against Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup due to a hamstring injury.
The player was expected to return to the team this week according to his recovery program but the player will follow a recovery program for the next two or three weeks, according to the club’s official website.
Al Ahly will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday to face AS Vita Club on Tuesday in a win-or-die match for the defending champions.
Al Ahly and AS Vita Club share the second position in the group with four points, three points behind the leaders Simba SC.
