CAIRO- 12 March 2021: Al Ahly board of directors, headed by the club's president Mahmoud El Khatib, opened the club's branch in Luxor governorate.
In the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Saif Al Waziri, CEO and Managing Director of Estadat Company, in addition to some of the club's notable icons and public figures from Luxor, the club inaugurated its first branch in Upper Egypt.
"We are witnessing a historic moment and we all should be proud. We are here in Upper Egypt, the land of history and civilization, among our people in the beautiful city of Luxor." El Khatib said in his speech during the opening ceremony.
Al Ahly’s Branch in Luxor is the biggest in the governorate as it is built on 13 acres of land and includes:
- Football stadium with a capacity of 5000 fans.
- Several arenas for the individual and sports teams.
- Olympic swimming pool.
- Indoor hall.
- Five-a-side pitches.
- Social building.
- Several arenas to serve the club's football, basketball, handball, and volleyball academies.
- Gym.
- Mosque.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy expressed his happiness with the inauguration of Al Ahly's branch in Upper Egypt, saying "This new branch is an opportunity to all the Egyptian Youth in Upper Egypt, especially that the club has a lot of great facilities.”
Al Ahly, founded in 1907, is the most successful club in Egypt and Africa, having won more than 140 domestic and international titles.
