CAIRO-30 January 2021: Denmark handball national team set up an all Scandinavian final against Sweden in the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship.
Denmark defeated Spain by two goals in a semi-final that witnessed a strong performance from the two European superpowers but the Danish team’s experience helped them win the match and secure a spot in the final.
On the other hand, Sweden booked a place in the final after defeating France 23:26.
“We played well against France as I think our self-confidence was the key of our victory,” the Sweden top scorer Hampus Wanne said after the match.
Cairo International Complex will host the final on 31 January while Spain will meet France in the third place game.
Denmark aims to defend their World Cup title and secure the second title in the nation’s history while Sweden aims to win the World Cup for fifth time.
It is worth mentioning that Sweden’s last gold medal came in 1999 when Egypt hosted the World Cup for the first time.
