CAIRO-14 January 2021: Egypt national team head coach Roberto Garcia Parrondo said that he is happy with the team's performance in the opening match of the IHF Men's Handball World Cup.
The Pharaohs opened their participation in the tournament with a 35-29 victory over Chile.
"I am very satisfied with the win, and I hope this can be a very long championship. We did extremely well in attack and defence, I couldn't ask for more." Parrondo said after the match.
Egypt dominated the match from the start to the end and the Egyptian players showed that they are ready to live up to the fans'expectations.
Parrondo added "I have to also thank the Egyptian government, the Egyptian Handball Federation and the organising committee for such great organisation of the competition."
Egypt hosts the competition between 13 and 31 January 2020, with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
Egypt will face North Macedonia on Saturday in the second round of the group stage and the Pharaohs aim to achieve another victory before their last match against Sweden, which is expected to decide the top of the group.
Parrondo commented on the game against North Macedonia, saying "We've been preparing to face the Czech Republic for so long and now we have just 40 hours to prepare for a totally different opponent. I'm happy for North Macedonia though, I have great memories there.
