CAIRO – 2 July 2017: Manchester United’s record transfer Paul Pogba spoke to Esquire Magazine on June 30 in a long interview.
Pogba talked about being the world’s most expensive player, Manchester United’s performance last season, his father’s death and many other important topics.
In terms of being the world’s most expensive player, Pogba said, “After one week, I forgot. It’s people that reminded me. Because at the end of the day, when you die, the most expensive and the less expensive, they go in the same grave. So I don’t even think about it,” The Sun reported.
Pogba also talked about United’s performance last season. “I accept that we didn’t play well - I know what we did - we won three trophies. That’s all I know,” the Sun reported him as saying. “And that’s all that matters. Because you can be the best team in the world, you can play great football and you win zero trophies. And who remembers them? No one. Right?”
He then talked about the reason why he left Manchester United saying, “I left Manchester to play. That’s all I wanted. Even though I was young, I felt I could play now and I didn’t want to wait.”
Pogba ended his interview with Esquire magazine by talking about his father’s recent death.
He said, “When you lose someone you love, you don’t think the same way, and that’s why I say I enjoy life, because it goes very fast. My dad was a very strong man, very stubborn as well. He fought, but at his age it’s not easy.”
“[My father] was one of the funniest guys ever - so funny. Every time you had time with him you were laughing,” Pogba added..” Very clever as well, because he was a professor. You have to remember the happy things.”
French central midfielder Pogba was able to win three titles: Europa League, Community Shield and League Cup with Manchester United in his first season with the club.
