Al Ahly Win Basketball National League Title

CAIRO-30 December 2020: Al Ahly defeated Al Ittihad of Alexandria 68-66 in the second leg of the National League Final on Tuesday night at Suez Canal Authority Hall to win the National League title. 

 

Al Ahly's youth team defeated Al Ittihad youth team in both legs of the final and gave the first team the chance to clinch the title despite losing the first leg. 

 

The Red Eagles were behind during the first three quarters of the match but they fought back in the fourth quarter to win the match and the title.

 

"We succeeded to overcome a lot of difficulties in our campaign and clinch the title." Al Ahly head coach Ashraf Tawfik said after the match. 

 

Al Ahly players were seeking revenge after losing last season's Super League and Egyptian Cup titles to Al Ittihad. 

 

"We have been under pressure in the last period, but we managed to deal with it in a positive manner. We promise our fans that we will keep fighting for all the upcoming titles."Al Ahly veteran Ibrahim El Gammal said after the match. 

 

Al Ahly dominated the basketball National League competition as the club's women's team also won the title after defeating Sporting SC in the final.
